Yanmar commercialises 35kW hydrogen fuel cell systemIssuing time:2024-08-23 18:55 Yanmar Energy Systems has commercialised its compact hydrogenPEM fuel cell system and will begin accepting orders in Japan in September(2024). The HP35FA1Z power generation system can produce 35kW of powerduring grid connection and 35kVA during standalone operation, whilst ensuringzero emissions. Weighing 1,650kg, the compact design includes all the necessaryoperating equipment. The system also supports the integrated control ofup to16 units during grid-connected operation, allowing for “easy adjustment ofoperating units based on power demand and available hydrogen supply,” accordingto the Japanese company. The system can also be expanded to meet further decarbonisationgoals and could provide autonomous power output to meet demands during outages. Yanmar Power Technology also commercialised a hydrogen fuel cellsystem for maritime applications last year (2023) and planned to install thesolution on a range of vessels. To kick off 2024, ClassNK issued an Approval in Principle (AiP)for its 300kW maritime system, signifying a “first” AiP certification for ahydrogen fuel cell solution developed by Yanmar. This system allows for parallel connection of multiple units andadjustments to the number of hydrogen fuel cell modules, meaning it can beadaptable to various ship output power requirements.
