Hydride storage provider GKN Hydrogen acquired by Langley HoldingsIssuing time:2024-08-08 16:32 LangleyHoldings has acquired the Italian-based, hydrogen storage provider GKN Hydrogenfrom Dowlais Group for an undisclosed price.
Basedin Pfalzen, with subsidiaries in Germany and the US, GKN Hydrogen’s metalhydride hydrogen storage solutions enable the absorption and release ofhydrogen for applications and small-to-large-scale industrial applications.
GKN’stechnology captures and stores hydrogen in a solid state form at “16x thedensity of compressed hydrogen gas without degradation for up to 30 years.”
Thecompany recently announced plans to deploy its solutions in China, supportingthe mobility infrastructure there as part of a collaboration with ZYNP.
Commentingon the acquisition, Anthony Langley, Chairman and CEO at Langley Holdings plc,said, “This underscores Langely Holdings’ strategic focus on sustainable energysolutions and commitment to a greener future.”
Duringthe integration process, Langley Holdings will work closely with the GKNHydrogen management team to ensure a smooth transition.
Speakingto H2 View last year, GKN Hydrogen’s Vice-President of Sales & BusinessDevelopment, Jim Petrecky, described the storage solution as “metal in a box.”
Inorder to create a hydrogen ecosystem, hydrogen storage must be established.Petrecky explained, “Storage is the link that enables renewables and greenhydrogen to satisfy both the mature and emerging markets by time-shifting cleanenergy to when the hydrogen is required.” Source: gasworld |
