Following the successful conclusion of IG China 2026 – the 27th International Gases Industry Chain Trade Fair – the event’s robust post-show industrial linkage effect continues to drive tangible cross-border industrial cooperation. Invited by the China IG Member Alliance (CIGMA), distinguished Kenyan industrial gases specialist Dr. Zulfiqar Wali undertook a comprehensive two-stage factory inspection tour across China’s premier cryogenic and air separation manufacturing clusters. The itinerary covered two core industrial hubs: the Yangtze River Delta centered on Hangzhou, a benchmark for digital smart manufacturing and complete precision component supply chains; and Kaifeng in Henan Province, China’s time-honored production base for heavy-duty air separation units (ASUs). Designed to build a full trust loop for overseas buyers that connects exhibition booth demonstrations with on-site production workshops, the field visit offered Dr. Wali first-hand insights into China’s integrated gases equipment solutions tailored for East African industrial gases development.

“This is my first trip to China, and I am deeply impressed by its world-class infrastructure, innovative manufacturing technology and welcoming local people; IG China has acted as a vital platform connecting me with top Chinese gases equipment makers, and witnessing automated smart workshops and massive in-house R&D firsthand has far exceeded what I could learn from exhibition brochures, as Chinese suppliers deliver cutting-edge technology, fast delivery cycles and full after-sales support that perfectly fit the capital-intensive industrial gases projects across Kenya and East Africa, a region with huge untapped industrial potential, and I hope IG China can host events in key African nations to boost technology transfer and joint investment while linking Chinese manufacturers with global funding institutions to better serve international buyers.”

Stop 1: Hangzhou Yangtze River Delta – AI-Driven Smart Manufacturing & Integrated Component Ecosystem

Dr. Wali launched his China factory tour in Hangzhou Fuyang, Huzhou and Deqing, a tightly clustered industrial belt renowned for its advanced intelligent manufacturing ecosystem, which left an immediate profound impression on the Kenyan expert.

During site visits to leading system integrators and EPC contractors including Yingde Engineering, Zhejiang Dachuan, Jinhua Air Separation and HANTURBO, Dr. Wali observed the precision fabrication workflow of large-scale ASUs and fully skid-mounted gases processing equipment. He also toured key component manufacturers Sanjing Cryogenic and RoyalTurbo, alongside adsorption material leader Qiangda Molecular Sieve. Every production facility featured automated assembly lines, high-precision industrial robots, and end-to-end digital management systems powered by artificial intelligence and big data analytics.

Full-process digital twin deployment enables granular, real-time production control across all manufacturing stages. Dr. Wali emphasized that such high-level automation eliminates inconsistent workmanship risks, guarantees stable equipment operation under extreme working parameters, and lays a solid technical foundation for remote intelligent operation and maintenance of overseas gases projects.

Beyond cutting-edge smart production infrastructure, local manufacturers demonstrated robust indigenous research and development capacity, the core competitive advantage of China’s gases equipment sector. Dr. Wali held in-depth technical exchanges with chief engineers and R&D directors across visited enterprises, covering pivotal proprietary technologies including wear-resistant sealing solutions for cryogenic liquid pumps and sophisticated micropore structure regulation of carbon molecular sieves (CMS), the core functional medium of PSA nitrogen generation systems. Continuous iterative upgrades of self-developed core components fully embody China’s strategic shift from low-end manufacturing to innovation-driven production.

Supported by a seamless, mature local industrial supporting network, regional suppliers deliver all-in-one turnkey services spanning design, raw material procurement, equipment fabrication and skid integration, with drastically shortened production lead times. For global project owners facing compressed construction schedules, the perfect balance of premium technical performance, competitive pricing and fast delivery provides critical risk mitigation and reliable project delivery guarantees.

Stop 2: Kaifeng, Henan – Heavy-Duty ASU Innovation & Globally Compliant Export Capabilities

Leaving behind the Yangtze Delta’s flexible precision manufacturing cluster, Dr. Wali traveled north to Kaifeng, a historic, highly concentrated industrial hub specializing in large-scale cryogenic air separation equipment. Co-hosted by CIGMA and the IG China 2026 organizing committee, the expert conducted in-depth inspections at three benchmark local manufacturers: Dear Air Separation, Kaili Air Separation and Kaixing Air Separation.

Digital Transformation of Heavy Industrial Manufacturing

At Dear Air Separation’s modern production campus, automated collaborative assembly lines, robotic precision machining, AI-assisted equipment simulation, virtual assembly testing and digital remote inspection systems showcased the deep integration of traditional heavy industry and modern digital technologies. Dr. Wali noted that digitalized workflows elevate manufacturing accuracy and long-term reliability for oversized air separation plants, while simplifying long-distance intelligent remote maintenance for international clients operating across Africa and other emerging markets.

Independent R&D & Customized Global Engineering Solutions

Kaifeng’s manufacturers boast decades of hands-on experience delivering cross-border industrial gases projects and full-spectrum international engineering expertise. Discussions with Kaili Air Separation’s technical team covered compliance with US, European and other global industrial standards, cross-ocean heavy-duty transportation protocols and standardized on-site installation procedures for overseas facilities.

Kaifeng’s complete upstream and downstream supply chain delivers two standout commercial strengths for international buyers: substantially compressed manufacturing and skid integration lead times, and cost-competitive products that adhere to top-tier global technical benchmarks. Paired with comprehensive, responsive after-sales service networks, Chinese manufacturers fully resolve overseas operators’ concerns regarding long-term equipment maintenance and technical support.

Core Insight: IG China 2026 Establishes a Full Trust Loop Linking Global Buyers and Chinese Manufacturers

Dr. Wali’s dual-location inspection perfectly exemplifies the unique industry value of IG China as a world-class industrial gases exchange platform. The cooperation journey initiates with preliminary product communication at exhibition booths, advances to component and smart factory verification in the Yangtze Delta, and culminates in validation of heavy-duty ASU mass production capacity in Kaifeng. This end-to-end field research framework creates a complete trust-building mechanism for international purchasers.

While IG China 2026 has formally closed its doors, cross-border industrial collaboration momentum continues to accelerate. The exhibition serves as an indispensable bridge connecting China’s full-spectrum gases equipment manufacturers with worldwide market demand, delivering professional targeted resource matching and full-cycle industrial services to foster mutually beneficial global partnerships.

Dr. Wali’s cross-regional inspection tour comprehensively validated the all-round competitiveness of China’s cryogenic and air separation equipment industry, covering lightweight skid-mounted units, medium-sized modular systems and ultra-large heavy-duty ASU facilities alike. Moving forward, CIGMA and the IG China organizing committee will continue to connect global industry professionals with top-tier Chinese manufacturers, deepen collaboration across the entire industrial gases value chain, and jointly advance shared sustainable growth for the global industrial gases market.
